Give

Support exists. For many, it's still out of reach.

More than 1.1 million intercountry adoptees. Healing modalities with decades of proof behind them. The only thing between them: cost. Your gift closes that distance - one journey, one year of healing, one room full of community at a time.

What We Fund

Three grants. One lifelong story.

$2,500 grants

Heritage Travel

Birth-country travel, reunion trips, and heritage visits. One of the most transformative experiences an adoptee can have - and the one most often out of reach.

About Heritage Travel

$1,000 grants

Healing & Wholeness

Adoption-competent therapy, mental-health care, and identity support - with clinicians who understand adoption, so no one has to explain their own story from scratch.

About Healing & Wholeness

$500 grants

Growth & Learning

Adoptee conferences, trainings, and language and cultural programs. Community and connection, funded - because identity grows in rooms full of people who get it.

About Growth & Learning

Other Ways to Give

Give the way that works for you.

The Ties Endowment

A gift that gives year after year, directly to individual adoptees. Endowment gifts keep Heritage Travel, Healing & Wholeness, and Growth & Learning grants available for years to come. Learn about the endowment.

Monthly giving

Recurring gifts are how we say yes to applications year-round instead of in bursts. $45/month funds a Growth & Learning grant each year; $230/month funds a heritage journey each year. Cancel anytime — no lock-in.

Planned and tax-advantaged options

Some of the most meaningful gifts do double duty — supporting adoptees now, or for generations, while helping you save on taxes and plan your own future. A few paths people choose:

  • Donor-advised funds (DAFs) — recommend a grant to The Ties Foundation from your DAF.
  • Gifts of stock or other assets — often more tax-efficient than giving cash.
  • Planned giving & bequests — include the Foundation in your will or estate to leave a lasting legacy.
  • Employer matching — we’re a verified cause on Benevity. Search “The Ties Foundation” or Cause ID 840-415288450 in your employer’s giving portal to double your gift.
  • Check, ACH, or wire — for larger or offline gifts; email us and we’ll send secure instructions.

These are decisions worth making slowly. We’re glad to have a gentle, no-pressure conversation — one grounded in our values — about the option that fits your life, your family, and the future you want to build. Reach Ian directly at ian@thetiesfoundation.org.

The Ties Foundation isn’t a tax or financial advisor — your own advisor can help you choose what’s best for your situation.

Foundations, funders, and partners

We welcome conversations with institutional and corporate funders. For our determination letter, leadership, and a summary of our work, reach Ian Forber-Pratt at ian@thetiesfoundation.org.

A larger gift

The Evergreen Fund: funds the mechanism, not one journey.

Most giving in this field funds a trip. One adoptee, one plane ticket, one return — and it matters enormously to that person. We would never say otherwise.

The Evergreen Fund is built to sustain The Ties Foundation. Many nonprofits are gasping for air each year — can we raise enough to keep going? Not on our watch. We want an evergreen fund that we never spend — we use the earned revenue from it to fund our work, and we keep fundraising too.

Which is also why we’re not handing you a checkout page. If you’re weighing a larger gift ($100,000+), you deserve a conversation with a person who can answer for how it will be spent — usually Ian, our executive director. Tell us how to reach you and he’ll be in touch personally.

Fund a trip

One adoptee, once.

It matters enormously to that person. When it’s spent, the capacity is spent with it.

Fund the mechanism

Every cycle, every year.

The least photogenic thing we will ever ask you to fund, and the reason any of it happens twice.

Giving something smaller? That matters just as much — use the donation form above. No conversation, and nobody will chase you afterwards.
