Accessibility Statement

We want this site to work for everyone - including people who use screen readers, keyboards, or other assistive technology.

Our commitment

The Ties Foundation is a nonprofit organization incorporated in the State of Colorado, organized exclusively for charitable purposes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The Ties Foundation is committed to WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across this site. Accessibility isn’t a finishing touch for us - it’s part of treating people with dignity, which is one of the things this whole organization is about.

What we’ve done

  • Semantic HTML with clear landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) and one main heading per page
  • Full keyboard navigation, with visible focus outlines on every interactive element
  • A “skip to main content” link at the top of every page
  • Color contrast tested to AA against our brand palette
  • Reduced-motion support: the homepage background video does not autoplay for people who prefer reduced motion, and a poster image is shown instead
  • Labeled form fields, with clear error messages and focus moved to the first field that needs attention

Known limitations

We’d rather name these plainly than pretend they don’t exist:

  • Some flows rely on third-party embeds - for example, the Stripe Donation embedded interface and any grant-application form we embed. These are tested separately and are not fully under our direct control. If one of them creates a barrier for you, please tell us and we’ll work with the provider or offer another way to complete what you were doing.
  • As we add new content and features, something may occasionally slip. We treat that as a bug to fix, not a fact to accept.

Feedback

If you encounter an accessibility barrier, contact us at ian@thetiesfoundation.org and we’ll address it.
